“Transformations on Fortune St.”

Samaritan House is proud to announce its ‘Transformations on Fortune Street’  luncheon and fundraiser to be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Our focus this year is not only the amazing journey to our new location at 611 Fortune Street in Charlotte, the expanded capacity for community service, but, more importantly, the transformations achieved by some of its guests who have gone on to rebuild their lives, regain their dignity, and become self-supporting and successful in so many ways.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• In the last 12 months we served 197 people and provided 3,678 bed days of care. In the past we have served between 100 and 120 people.  This is an increase of 55.8% in people served and 59.8% in bed days. In the past 12 months we have saved the community $9,125,000 in indigent care.
• Since we moved to the new house we served 94 people and provided 1,875 bed days of care.  A savings to the community of $4,687,500 in indigent care.
• Since opening we have now served 735 people and provided 12,278 bed days of care.  A total savings to the community of $30,695,000 in indigent care funds.

We are honored to have Michael Tarwater, Chief Executive Officer, Carolinas Medical Center, as our guest speaker this year. Under his leadership, CMC has become known for supporting the health and well-being of Charlotte’s residents. Without the support of the Carolinas HealthCare Foundation, Samaritan House’s new home would not have been possible.

We are also very pleased to have a representative of the Levine Foundation, which also provided significant funding for the purchase of Samaritan House’s new home, as guest Master of Ceremonies.
