Local nonprofit unveils rebrand inspired by organizational evolution
Charlotte, NC – September 4, 2024 – Samaritan House, Charlotte’s only source of medical respite services for individuals experiencing homelessness, has a new look and stronger mission and vision statements that better reflect the organization in modern day. This new appearance reflects the group’s gratitude for community support and a fortified dedication to the heart of their operations: the guests. An enhanced, more informational and visually impressive website welcomes and educates more folks who are interested in making donations and becoming volunteers: www.thesamaritanhouse.org.
For over 19 years, the house located off of Monroe Road has been a saving grace for homeless men and women in need of short and long-term recuperative care following a hospital or emergency room stay. After the successful “Save Our Home” campaign thanks to the community of supportive donors, the house was reopened in July 2023. Since then, Samaritan House has been able to provide warm meals, a safe place to stay, post-operative assistance and transportation to medical appointments as well as case work series to even more individuals in need.
"Staff and volunteers have really embraced our updated program model, and we are seeing this in the lives of our guests and the community," states Rodney Tucker, Executive Director. "The increase in community impact comes from expanding our referral process with guests coming from agencies like Charlotte Rescue Mission, Hope Haven, Hearts United for Good, YWCA Women in Transition and Hearts for the Invisible.” Tucker also notes an increase in short-term post-surgery stays: “Even with shorter stays we are still able to work on additional personal goals like, applying for food stamps, ID replacement, obtaining a primary care physician and housing.”
Board President Chan Roush states, “This year alone, we have provided short term housing and recuperative care for 74 guests, which is great progress toward our goal of helping over 150 in 2024. We hope that a redesigned look and vision will inspire more people to get involved in the effort to touch as many lives as possible, in any way they can help.”
The organization’s new brand statements are as follows:
Samaritan House provides short-term housing and comprehensive case management to support recuperative care for homeless and underhoused individuals.
Samaritan House envisions a world where all have access to short-term medical respite and safe, stable housing for homeless and underhoused individuals.
The Board of Directors, staff and volunteers of Samaritan House value love, dignity, respect and inclusion of all persons.
“The redesigned logo was decided upon by our guests and staff and represents everyone who has stayed in this house as well as those we hope to serve in the future,” says Tucker. “The people of Samaritan House are the foundation of our purpose. We’ve grown a lot in almost 20 years, and our evolved mission and vision better speak to who we have become as an organization over time and what we’ll continue to work toward in the future.” With its growth, the organization hopes to make room for even more guests and to implement additional offerings, like CNA services and financial planning.
